New Club Opens in Cleveland, Mississippi

One of the Delta's most dynamic communities is in Cleveland, Mississippi, home of Delta State University. At one time the community had a Boys & Girls Club associated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta. The organization has worked tirelessly for the past ten years to return to Cleveland.

With the help of the Cleveland Central School District we were able to secure the old Cypress Park Elementary School building as a facility for our club. Additionally, civic organizations like the Cleveland Junior Auxiliary, the City of Cleveland and private citizens helped to create a strong base of local support for a Club in Cleveland.

With the help of these partnerships, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta secured a 21st Century Learning Center grant for the Cleveland Club. We will have the ability to serve up to 120 children and their families each day with Boys & Girls Club programming designed to provide opportunities for young people, particularly those who need us most, to become caring, productive, and responsible citizens.
